Reality shows add more fun and twist to entertain the viewers which ultimately give good TRP's for the show makers as well as for the channel. These shows give tough competition to the daily soaps. We at Bmiint just take a look at the top 10 best reality shows of 2009.



#1. Bigg Boss 3 on Colors

Bigg Boss Season 3 in 2009 is the third season of the Indian reality TV programme Bigg Boss. It began airing on 4th October 2009 on Colors and will continue to do so daily at 9 p.m. for 84 Days with Amitabh Bachchan as the host. This will be the biggest show ever of 2009 because of its controversies and so on.



#2. Perfect Bride on STAR Plus

Lux Perfect Bride is another reality show, which is going to be telecast on STAR Plus from 12th Sep 09, the purpose of this show is to find a “perfect bride” for its contestants. 10 Girls and 5 boys gathered from all over India…all with the same aim, which is to find a “perfect bride”! Now the show is also nearing the finale in a few weeks.


#3. India's Got Talent on Colors

The first episode of India's Got Talent premiered on June 27, 2009. India's Got Talent followed the global Got Talent format, in which contestants auditioned in front of three judges and a studio audience. The judges were Kirron Kher,Shekhar Kapur and Sonali Bendre.

An Orissa Dance group was declared winners and they received a cash prize of 5 million rupees (equivalent to approximately US$105,000) and a Maruti Suzuki Ritz. India's Got Talent is now credited to be Asia's biggest talent show.



#4. Khatron Ke Khiladi level 2 On Colors

Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar was the host of the show. The show featured 13 Indian Divas, teamed up with 13 ordinary people, who competed with the others in order to outdo each other in a series of stunts.

Each episode opened up with an opening stunt, which all teams had to perform, and the best performing team got the safety band for the next stunt, which means that they would not have to perform the next survival stunt. Whoever performed the worst was eliminated at the end of the episode. Anushka Manchanda was declared winner on 1st October 2009.



#5. Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao on Sony TV

Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao was the Indian version of the popular British reality game show I'm a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here!. The show premiered on July 13, 2009 at 10 PM on Sony TV replacing another reality talent show Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega whose first season ended the previous week.

This show created a lot of Bikini controversy. Mona Vasu walked away with a cash prize of Rs.1 crore.


#6. Rakhi Ka Swayamvar On NDTV imagine

Rakhi Ka Swayamwar is a reality show broadcast on NDTV Imagine. The show started on 29 June 2009 and was hosted by TV actor Ram Kapoor. In the final episode ("Faisle Ki Raat") held on 2nd August 2009, Rakhi Sawant selected Elesh Parujanwala, a Canadian businessman from Toronto, as her future bridegroom from among the three finalists.

They exchanged garlands and bridal rings, thus being "engaged". Although the show's original premise was that the couple would marry immediately, they decided in favor of postponing their marriage for an indefinite period of time.


#7. Pati Patni Aur Woh on NDTV imagine

After the success of Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, NDTV Imagine came up with yet another unique show called Pati Patni Aur Woh. The show is being produced by BBC and is a desi version of international show Baby Borrowers.

This show isolated the unique celebrity couples from their glamorous lives, and thrust them into the real world, where they became parents taking on parenting challenges. The couples include Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Choudhary, the idol jodi of Ram Sita.

On the other hand there is another couple from the TV world who is happily married since years, Shilpa and Apoorva Agnihotri. Then the show also has a recently engaged couple, who was hitched on television, Rakhi Sawant and Elesh Parujanwala. There is newly wedded couple, the favorite bahu and beta of television, Juhi and Sachin Shroff.

Last but not the least we have Gaurav Chopra and Mouni Roy.The show witnessed some controversies from the government authorities, and now in this show Rakhi Sawant broke her engagement with Elesh.


#8. Sarkaar Ki Duniya on Real TV

Sarkaar Ki Duniya is a reality television show that airs on Real TV since March 2, 2009. It took place on Mango Island in Karwar, Karnataka.18 contestants were selected from all over India to be put together. Every week, there was a Dal Nayak (Community Leader) who elected and assigned a task along with an assigned amount.

The Dal Nayak has immunity and is exempt from the elimination. Each player has to pay tax once a week and the three lowest taxpayers are up for Nishkasan (elimination). The rest of the Dal eliminates one player every week. When the game reached the last four stages, the Nishkasan (elimination) rights were revoked and open to the Indian public to vote for the Maha-Nayak.

The final four were Puneesh, Rahshid, Ali Mughal and the famous celebrity Ashutosh Rana anchored the show .The Grand Finale was telecast on July 3, 2009 anchored by Sanju.The show winner was Puneesh Sharma from Delhi and he won Rs. One Crore as prize money.


#9. Dadagiri on UTV Bindass

Dadagiri is a reality show telecast on Saturdays, it is claimed to be the meanest TV show on Indian Television. In its first season called Dadagiri: Beat the Bullies, contestants were selected every week and would compete for a prize money of Rs. 50000. Vishal and Esha along with Akash hosted it.

It is currently running its second season and called UTV Hero Honda Dadagiri 2. 12 contestants (Fighters) are put in a Boot Camp near Manali and are made to do tasks to compete for the Rs. 10 Lakh prize money.

The current host of the show is Akash. It has its dadas (ruffains) - Vishal, the Beast and Sonali, the Goddess. Both of them are quite abusive and psychologically stress the contestants with their constant jabbing comments.Each week, there is a Macho task assigned by Vishal to the fighters to test their physical and mental toughness.


#10. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2009 on Zee TV

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs

Was an Indian televised children's singing competition that aired on Zee TV. The judges were Abhijeet and Alka Yagnik. The third season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2009 began from June 5, 2009.

The season's theme was girl’s vs boys - Jeetenge Yeh World - Boys Ya Girls! The season's winner was Hemant Brijwasi from Mathura, followed by the first runner up Yatharth and the second runner up Shreyasi.
