Avtar International Film Fest 2010, a film festival organized yearly by the School of Communication, Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science. Our basic aim is to promote, showcase and reveal hidden talents among young visualizers, in an attempt to recognize and appreciate creativity and inventiveness. Have a passion for color? Art hysteria is our underlying theme for the year 2010. Avtar International Film Fest is to be held on March 13th.

Avatar Movie Review

The movie came out today and if you’re hesitate to watch it, you should probably check out the Avatar movie review and see what others have to say about it. I’ll just summarize what most people have been saying.

The early reviews on the movie Avatar seem to be a little iffy. A lot of people think this movie is going to flop, in the sense that they spent millions and millions to make the movie and people think they aren’t going to make up for that difference.

It is a James Cameron movie so you know its going to be action packed. And that’s what most people enjoyed the most about the movie; the special effects and action. What most people didn’t like about the movie was the story. People were saying it was “okay” but if it wasn’t for the incredible effects then it would have just been average.
In addition, in a lot of reviews, people kept pointing out the fact that there were a lot of flaws in it.

On top of that, the movie is just about three hours long which is pretty long for a movie. But everyone is saying if you watch Avatar in 3D then it would definitely be worth it because of all those special effects.

The movie is going to be a blockbuster hit which probably means there will be a lot of people looking to Watch Sherlock Holmes Free Online. Iron Man 2 [Trailer]

Marvel Studios, Paramount and Jon Favreau have given you an early Christmas present. Yahoo! Movies has debuted the first poster for Iron Man 2, and as cheesy as it is to go nuts over marketing, it's an awfully cool poster. It's their exclusive, so you'll have to click the picture to see the entire thing, but I've given you a tiny preview above.

The best part? Those of us who didn't get to see the pants-wetting footage at Comic-Con finally get a glimpse at War Machine! There's something deliciously geeky about the buddy cop stylings of this poster. I could live quite comfortably in a world where Iron Man 2 was something akin to a super-suited Lethal Weapon, couldn't you?

Of course, as nice as the poster is, it's no substitute for seeing these guys actually take flight. Faverau has hinted via Twitter that we might see the first Iron Man 2 trailer this Christmas, and that it'll be attached to that other Robert Downey Jr. franchise, Sherlock Holmes. Maybe if you're very good boys and girls, Santa will grant your wish, and we'll get it a few days before Holmes hits theaters. I can't think of a more festive way to ring in the holidays than with a flying hero of red and gold. So here goes the trailer:

Avatar opens with Rs.22 crore in India

Director James Cameron's much-hyped and anticipated 3D sci-fi epic 'Avatar' is raking in moolah at the Indian box office - its opening weekend collections is Rs.22 crore (Rs.220 million). Touted to be the highest ever weekend collection for any Hollywood film in India so far, it has beaten the opening collections of international blockbusters like '2012', 'Titanic' and 'Spider-Man 3'.

 ''Avatar' has had an amazing opening and the audience reactions are fantastic with a very large proportion of them wanting to see it again. Our theatrical partners are delighted to see queues building up outside multiplexes for advance bookings. The movie is being appreciated across all age groups,' Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios India, said in a statement. Indian collections are also amongst the top 10 weekend performances in the world for the movie beating the likes of traditionally better performing countries like Taiwan, Singapore, New Zealand, Sweden, Holland and Hong Kong.

Starring Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana, the movie depicts the story of a wounded ex-marine thrust unwillingly into an effort to exploit an exotic moon rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.

Saif, Kareena to wed soon: Sharmila

High-profile Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor may be getting married soon. And the confirmation has come from none other than Saif’s mother, Sharmila Tagore. “I don’t have any objection to Saif and Kareena getting married and they will get married soon, Tagore, who was here for a meeting of the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC), said on Sunday. Tagore, who is the chairperson of the CBFC, was in Jodhpur to participate in the 120th censor board meeting. Asked about the much-anticipated wedding, she said, “We are very happy about their marriage. Kareena is an intelligent girl.” Saifeena have been in the limelight ever since their affair became public and there has been speculation about when the duo would marry. Neither Saif nor Kareena has spoken about their marriage plans..

9 Over-ratedness Things We'll Miss About 2009.

Why was there so much hype about these things? 

1. Phyan: A portable Usha Fan can wrought more havoc than Cyclone Phyan. With hyped up media reports, Phyan was made to look like a Tsunami-Hurricane-Rape-Godzilla-Tornado-Armageddon. Instead, it made flowers blossom and young-couples make out with the nice, breezy, mild showers it brought with it. And thus establishing The Indian MET department as the India TV of MET departments across the world.

 

2. 2 States: Chetan Bhagat doesn't know when to stop. For a guy who speaks in broken, memorized English and gets bashed up almost daily in Twitter, he sure has a lot of balls coming up with another badly-written school-essay... er, 'novel'. This time, about 'love' and 'relationships' - but mostly about overplaying stereotypes and internet forwards he steals his jokes from. No wonder Chetan-bashing is such a hit!

 


 
3. Slumdog Millionaire: Do you feel nauseated at the fact that most of the world feels that 'Jai Ho' is India's national anthem? If yes, then you have to thank Danny Boyle's poverty-porn a.k.a Slumdog Millionaire. The movie was nothing special - it was like Mira Nair's 'Salaam Bombay' had intense, monkey sex with the Brazilian film, 'City of God' and Danny Boyle was taping the action from the far side of the room. Also, as proud we are of A.R.Rehman winning the Oscar, little did we know that he would totally sell-out and compose music for Bollywood trash like 'Blue', nay, 'Baloo'.

 

4. Celeb Wars: Round one: It's Shahrukh v/s Salman! Round two: It's Shahrukh v/s Aamir! Round Three: It's Salman v/s Vivek! Round four: It's Big B on a blogging vendetta. It's Akshay v/s Common Sense! Celeb wars can be tiring, And with Twitter and with celebs slowly learning what blogging is, us regular people have no respite, do we?




 
 
5. Obama's Peace Prize: Just goes to show how unnecessarily patronising and condescending the Nobel Peace Prize committee is. Obama had barely run the country for half a year and lo and behold, he already had a Nobel Peace Prize. I mean, that was not even worthy of an Ignobel prize! Unless you count beating McCain and Sarah Palin in the elections, now THAT deserves an award.

 


 


6. Shilpa Shetty's Wedding: Shilpa Shetty got married to a rich, divorced bank account... er, businessman. REALLY??? WHOA! I TOTALLY NEVER EXPECTED THAT! PEOPLE WITH NOSEJOBS GET MARRIED!??? ACTRESSES ARE GOLDDIGGERS??? MY GOD! THIS IS INSANE! THERE SHOULD BE BOOKS WRITTEN ON THIS!!!
If that wasn't your initial reaction to the wedding, then you know exactly what we mean.


 
 

7. Roadies: We can't point fingers without pointing some back, right? With promos going on for what seems like forever, you finally switch on the TV to see people make a fool of themselves and all you see is the last few seasons all over again. 'Roadies: Rearview' is then followed by the auditions which followed by 'Ride with Rannvijay'. The actual show never begins! It will, but, by then, it'll be called 'Roadies 8: We're late.'

8. Twitter: Twitter is the schizzle, right? It is the next best thing to the possible cure for cancer, right? It is the most ingenious thing to happen since edible underwear, right? Actually, no. Twitter is plainly put, a glorified status updater for all to see. If you tweak your Facebook page's privacy settings, you get the exact same thing with a million other applications! So Twitter is essentially one-hundredth a social networking site. But you can't bash Chetan Bhagat on Facebook, though. Or can you?

 
 

9. Twilight: Adding to the already insane number of things that men don't get about women, Twilight is at the heart of it all, a romantic saga - with vampires who predate the protagonist's great-great-grandparents, bare-chested werewolves and undeniably, wrist-slashingly 'emo' overtones. Other than the whole book AND movie series sound like a fantasy-porn gone horribly wrong. Also, there are shiny vampires. Isn't a single Shiney Ahuja doing enough damage to the world that they needed to put hoardes of Siny vampires on the loose? Why, Stephenia Meyer? WHY?
